Ricall was launched in 1998, providing a number of services for licensing music for use in advertising, film, TV shows and video production. The Company’s high-quality service attracted collaboration with national and international brands on global campaigns, and secured £12m in investment.
Ricall’s offering included music supervision, licence negotiation and an attractive e-commerce marketplace where artists and rights holders could present their music for sync licensing and digital downloads. The pricing model used in the marketplace was customisable and allowed artists and rights holders to set prices independently based on factors such as duration.
Throughout its existence, the Company compiled a catalogue of over 6,200 well-known tracks and independent music, which it licensed to individuals, film festival entrants, small businesses, not-for-profit organisations and operators in other sectors. Notable customers have included the Body Shop, Mailchimp and Fiat 500 together with other high-profile brands and companies.
