Metis Recruitment Process

All our available roles are advertised on our website. Our roles are also advertised on: (i) university graduate recruitment portals such as Handshake in the US; (ii) university career service pages such as those of University of Glasgow and University of Edinburgh in the UK; (iii) online recruitment websites such as S1jobs.com. We are however constantly on the lookout for suitable candidates and, whilst we may not be advertising any positions at the time, we would consider recruiting excellent candidates immediately, or retaining their application on file for future vacancies (in line with our Privacy Notice and Data Protection Policy).

Our interview process comprises the following three stages:

Stage 1: Introductory Interview

This one-hour interview is either conducted in-person or via a Zoom call.  The focus is to get to know the candidate and includes competency-based questions and discussions regarding the candidate’s background, experience, working style, and personality.

We encourage the candidate to ask any questions they may have during the interview process. This interview also provides the opportunity for us to discuss the work that we do and our company culture, which we hope provides sufficient information for the candidate to determine if the role is suitable for them. It is crucial that the fit is mutually beneficial. 

Stage 2: Practical Assignment and Follow-up Interview

The practical assignment, involving the preparation of a brief written report, is a take-home task conducted prior to the follow-up interview and covers such matters as financial analysis, intellectual property discovery, and business due diligence.

The one-hour follow-up interview comprises a brief presentation of the practical assignment report by the candidate to members of our management team. This is followed by assignment-specific questions from us and questions and follow-up discussions (if any) from Stage 1.

Stage 3: Final Interview, via a Zoom call, with our Founder/CEO.

We endeavor to revert to candidates as quickly as possible after each stage of our recruitment process.    Occasionally client timelines may have an impact on our ability to meet our timetable, however, at the very latest we will get back to candidates within 5 working days.

Current Vacancies

We are looking for candidates with a growth mindset, interested in and capable of quickly learning about intellectual property (‘IP’), valuation methodologies, and our Metisology®. As part of our team, you will learn to identify key IP assets in a business, appraise their relevance and value in different business models across all sectors, and narrate this in client reports.

To fit into our motivated, professional, young team candidates must have:

  • Excellent proficiency in written and verbal English
  • Attention to detail and understanding of the rigor required to deliver professional services
  • Strong research and analytical skills
  • A positive and solution-oriented attitude
  • Genuine interest in IP, technology, and business

Business Analysts (US & UK based)

We are looking for graduate entry-level Business Analysts, both in the US and the UK, to support our three areas of operation: IP Valuation, IP Advisory, and Restructuring & Bankruptcy. The role offered will depend on your skill set and relevant qualifications. IP training is provided in-house, however, experience or a genuine interest in business is essential.

Senior Valuation Executive (UK-Based)

We are recruiting a Senior Valuation Executive to work across our Valuation teams, delivering M&A and Restructuring & Bankruptcy valuations for our global client base. 

Qualifications and experience required for the Senior Executive role include:

  • Qualified/Part-Qualified relevant professional qualification, such as Accountancy or Insolvency qualification; and/or
  • 3-4 years of experience working within professional services, ideally in business or IP valuation; and
  • Commercial and financial awareness in a client-facing role.
