Fair fa’ your honest, sonsie face,
Great chieftain o the puddin’-race!
To the strains of pipes floating down Cheapside, drawing in many a curious passer-by, our wonderful guests made their way to the church of St Mary-le-Bow on the evening of Thursday 30th January for the annual Metis Partners Burns Night.
Through the imposing entrance and down the old stone steps to our new venue at Café Below, never has a 1000 year-old crypt felt so warm and welcoming, making the perfect setting for our evening of merriment in honour of the bard.
After a selection of Scottish-themed canapes, drinks and excellent chat, the pipes rang out again as the ceremonial haggis made its grand entrance and received its traditional address from our piper Anton, who executed it with the requisite passion and drama, much to the delight of all present!
Once the haggis, neeps and tatties had been happily devoured, our guests put their heads together to battle it out in our quiz which was won by MKS with RSM coming in a close second. Despite fielding a large team, Leonard Curtis were successful only in winning our booby prize lucky dip, with the inimitable Ronnie Walters particularly delighted with his haul!
As the evening drew to a close and our farewells were made, all agreed it had been a wonderful night.
Thank you to all who came and we look forward to working with you over the coming year.
