The Client focuses on creating AI-driven autonomous solutions to help meet the needs of the global port industry. The Client works with world-renowned port operators and has completed multiple proof of concepts, demonstrating the efficacy of its autonomous solutions.
The Client required two full IP valuations of its critical IP assets: one to support fundraising activities, and the second to support JV negotiations that involved the Company committing significant IP assets from its portfolio to a JV in a specific geographical territory.
Using our unique and proprietary Metisology® approach we identified and performed an analysis of the Client’s critical IP assets, namely software, key organizational knowledge including critical algorithms and potential trade secrets, and brand. The assignment involved an in-depth analysis of the Client’s complex and disruptive IP portfolio, including how it was developed, protected, and managed. Using our proprietary IP Indicator Scorecard, we were able to benchmark the Client’s IP in both its initial target market and the wider industrial automation market.
We performed desk-based research and analysis on the industrial automation industry to assess the key drivers of industry growth, competing and alternate solutions in the market and the likely market opportunity that existed to commercialize the Company’s IP on a SaaS model. In addition, we performed relevant analysis to gain confidence that the joint venture financial forecasts were achievable and sustainable, and that the Client’s business model could match the rate of scale-up needed to achieve its financial forecasts.
We delivered two reliable, intellectual property valuations on an IP portfolio. Our reports provided much-needed IP narrative which demonstrated the unique and potentially disruptive technology that had been developed. We also included the key technical and commercial milestones that had to be achieved so that investors/lenders were aware of the strategic actions that were necessary for the Company to achieve its financial projections. Our IP insights allowed the Client to understand how the critical IP assets could be leveraged in the next phase of fundraising and strategic joint venture partnership.
