The Client

We were appointed by KPMG to sell the IP assets of a luxury fashion brand, from Administration.

The Assignment

The brand was a British luxury fashion brand which had produced unique collections for Debenhams and Habitat and was also a regular at London Fashion Week. The brand had a loyal following amongst UK fashionistas and global celebrities and was known for its provocative campaigns and slogan-style merchandise. The brand was also well recognized in Asia, through its partnership with Chinese sports brand, Xtep.

We were engaged to sell the IP assets when the trading business entered an administration process.

Our Approach

Despite incredibly challenging sector conditions cause by the COVID 19 pandemic, we ran a global sales process and targeted retail operators in Asia, where the brand had received significant exposure through its successful collaborations.

The businesses operated a successful licensing strategy, so we not only marketed the sale of the entire IP portfolio, we marketed the potential sale for territory-specific IP assets to maximize the potential returns for our Client.

The Outcome

We completed a successful sale of the IP Portfolio and also brokered a deal for the inventory, during an exceptional challenging period for the retail sector and whilst in national lockdown.

The business continues to operate, and many licensing deals are in the process of being re-negotiated.
