The Client

A renowned international electrical and mechanical engineering company, which had offered solutions to a wide range of industries and markets for almost 30 years. This award-winning Company was linked to high-value projects and global companies such as Saudi Aramco, and BAE Systems.

The Assignment

We were appointed by the joint administrators to market and sell the IP assets when the Company entered financial distress.

Our Approach

We utilized our unique Metisology® approach to discover and appraise the value of the IP assets in this tech-rich business. The portfolio included a vast portfolio of designs and technical specifications and we identified that this B2B brand had achieved widespread exposure. As a result, it was not only the registered trademark that had value, there was also significant goodwill in a number of unregistered trademarks, a portfolio of domain names, and website content. The Company’s had created key organizational knowledge which included supporting documentation for a number of critical industry accreditations.

The Outcome

The sale of this IP portfolio avoided the loss of critical IP, which had been a key driver of revenues that were in excess of $12 million. The Company’s comprehensive and extensive design portfolio included certification designs, manufacturing and fabrication designs relating to cutting-edge electrical and mechanical engineering products and was critical to securing a successful sale.
