Metis Partners “SuperBowls” 2019

Metis Partners “SuperBowls” 2019

The day dawned bright and sunny, the birds were chirping and our spidey senses were telling us that it was going to be a fantastic day.

The heroes of our story began assembling at the beautiful Kelvingrove Lawn Bowls Centre at 2pm and after limbering up with a couple of cold beverages and a welcome from our CEO Stephen, those brave teams of three (or 4!) strode out onto the manicured grass of the bowling green to begin unveiling their super-bowling prowess.

After four play-offs interspersed with pauses to refuel, chat and try to beat the buzzer back in the party room, the winners of the day were announced.

First up, Alan Meek and his Morton Fraser team finally broke their duck winning their first match in 2 years which earned them a spot in the mentions.

The prizes for the team that made the most effort for our superhero theme went to the unforgettable Macdonald Henderson team headed up by Alan McKee and most enthusiastically supported by Colm Kerr, Abigail Meek and Superted herself, Laura McKnight.

Next came the runner-up prizes which went to the team from PwC who were just pipped to the winners’ post by team Gilson Gray who were awarded the glorious trophy of champions for this year. Congratulations to Steven Jansch, Sally Nash, Craig Darling and David Alexander for your consummate performance which shall forever be immortalised in the annals of Metis Partners Lawn Bowls Lore.

A special mention must also go to Brian Milne of French Duncan, who, despite being “too busy” to put in a team still managed to drop in “as he was in the neighbourhood” – it was good to see you!

And finally an extra-special mention to Sally Nash of GG and Phil Dunn of KPMG for gamely playing barefoot when informed that “heels are not allowed on the green”!

Thank you to everyone who attended from CMS, FRP Advisory LLP, Gilson Gray LLP, Grant Thornton, Harper Macleod LLP, KPMG, Macdonald Henderson, Morton Fraser LLP and PwC – we had a fantastic afternoon and we hope you did too! Roll on London Lawn Bowls on 5th and 6th September!
