Employee spotlight: our sarcastic Valuation expert who loves nothing more than a game of football and a day in the sun – Saj Ali

Saj Ali is an our Valuation Manager, regularly helping clients understand the value of their IP, transforming funding options available to businesses and providing a purchase price allocation of their goodwill and intangibles.

How did you first learn about Metis Partners?

I initially learned about the company when I saw a job post for an IP analyst in the University of Strathclyde careers page. I applied for the role as it seemed really interesting and relevant to my studies/background, from there I researched Metis Partners and came across the website, where I got a taste for what we do.

What is your role at Metis Partners?

I’m a Valuation Manager, currently handling all client jobs for the department and overseeing day-to-day operations to manage assignments.

What’s your favourite aspect of your job?

I like the variety and insight you gain from analysing the IP assets of different companies, as we could be dealing with anything from an innovative tech start-up to a one-man-band consultancy service.

I’m happiest when…

…I’m playing football! Or enjoying the sun in some scenic location (I don’t get out much).

Before working at Metis Partners what was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had?

Unfortunately I’ve never had a particularly interesting or unusual job, but as an eager youngster I “worked” in a games store, where the bulk of my responsibilities involved sitting about testing video games.

Do you have any “hidden talents”?

If I had a talent, it certainly wouldn’t be hidden. But to answer the question, nope, unless sarcasm is a talent.

As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?

Spiderman

What are we most likely to find you doing on Saturdays?

Catch up on my sleep for a start, but generally I’ll go to the gym and catch up with friends. We try to make the most of the weather if it’s nice, our plan is to venture on some hill-walks around Scotland in the coming months.
