James Bernard Stephen and Francis Graham Newton of BDO LLP, the Joint Administrators of Ortak Jewellery Limited (in Administration) (“Ortak” or “the Company”), have appointed Metis Partners to support the marketing and sale of the intellectual property assets (“IP assets”) belonging to the Company. Business Background

Ortak was established in 1967 and is a leading designer, manufacturer and retailer of classic and contemporary jewellery. From its roots in the Scottish Orkney Islands, the Company expanded to generate an annual turnover in excess of £7m, selling on the High Street through fifteen Ortak branded stores, on the internet and wholesale to B2B customers such as Argos, Amazon and H Samuel, as well as to overseas markets. The Ortak e-commerce website generated revenues inexcess of £400,000 per year.

Ortak has built a strong reputation for innovative design and quality craftsmanship, utilising traditional silversmith techniques. Ortak’s unique Orcadian designs have been inspired by ancient Norse and Scottish history as well as the majestic Orkney landscape.
